Polyvinylidene difluoride (PVF2)

Polyvinylidene difluoride (PVF2) is a piezoelectric material. It is one of the important material in medical ultrasound engineering. It is available in thin membrane that look like plastic wrap. This material is used for constructing miniature hydrophones, which are a small ultrasound transducers for measuring the acoustic output of medical ultrasound equipment.

The advantage of polyvinylidene difluoride material is that of very small transducer detectors, useful for probing and measuring the beam of diagnostic transducers, can be made from it.
